Background:
Kwahu Sanitation Volunteers Club is situated at Kwahu - Mpraeso in the Eastern region of Ghana. Kwahu has Five (5) districts which are; Kwahu South having Mpraeso as the district capital, Kwahu East having Abetifi as district capital, Kwahu West having Nkawkaw as district capital, Kwahu Afram Plains North district having Donkorkrom as district capital and Kwahu Afram Plains South having Tease as district capital.
Kwahu is a mountainous ridge per topographical landscape and the most dominant occupation within the Kwahus is Agriculture. Kwahu is noted for its rich culture most especially the Kwahu Easter celebration that has attracted global recognition.
Kwahu Sanitation Volunteers Club was formed in the year 15th August, 2018 and was legally registered under the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179) on 23rd May 2019 at Accra with a registration number CG079222019 and Tin number C002664777x. The club is a member of Ghana Youth Directory under the auspices of Youth Empowerment Synergy (YES-Ghana).
Our Mission is to build a society of sanitation - conscious individuals by creating awareness and avenues through civil society organizations, using us the devoted members of Kwahu as examples.
Our Vision is to make Kwahu and its environs a cleaner neighbourhood devoid of sanitation related disease and catastrophes through regular clean up exercises with partner agencies.
Our slogan or hash tag is KSVC �??Cleanliness Is Our Health ".
Kwahu Sanitation Volunteers Club uses result oriented approach to solving issues that is why for the sake of results and critical analysis considering our financial and human resources, our primary focus per our line of action is promoting sanitation within Kwahu and its environs.
We are confident and optimistic as time progresses and we get support as we continue to obtaining prolific results considering our mission and vision, we look forward to extending our services to other part of Ghana, Africa and the world at large.
Kwahu Sanitation Volunteers Club is working towards attaining the global goals most especially goal six (6) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that has sanitation as its focal point. Our mission and vision clearly spelt out our core mandate and interest in promoting, protecting and sustaining sanitation.
We have qualified personalities at the helm of affairs of this organization such as the District Sanitation Director of Kwahu East District, the Chairman of Environmental Care of the church of Pentecost, the winner of 2017 national SDG Youth Essay Competition organized by Youth Empowerment Synergy- Ghana (YES-GH) under its SDG Youth Action Campaign Funded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ghana, he was nominated in the Youth Citizens International Entrepreneurship Competition in the Best Ideas 2019 Category, and an advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We also have graduates from notable universities, professionals, medical doctor, media personalities, just to mention but few.
Per our chain of command, we have the President of the Club, the Public Relations Officer, Secretary, Financial Secretary, the Organizer and Executive Committee Members which entails representatives from various communities, schools and institutions, key stakeholders, administrative heads and media personalities. Because of our financial strength which is a major constrain to our smooth operation, we are yet to get an office.
Kwahu Sanitation Volunteers Club does not discriminate against any political party, level of education, tribe and place of origin, religion, age, sex, nationality or any form of discrimination. So far we have more than 215 members who follow us on our social media handles such as Facebook, Instagram, and official website and WhatsApp platforms. We wish to indicate our members are loyal, committed, hardworking and reliable as far as cleanup activities, advocacy programs and other activities pertaining to the organization is concerned.
Activities Performed so far: Since the operation of this organization in 2018, we have been working assiduously by conducting result oriented regular clean up exercises, advocating on sanitation within Kwahu and its environs. Some of the cleanup exercises conducted include a collaborative clean up with National Service Personnel's (NSS) of Kwahu West Municipal and Drivers Union Association of Kwahu West and Kwahu West Sanitation department at Nkawkaw new station on 27th July, 2019. We also conducted another clean up exercise at Kwahu Tafo on 23rd February, 2019. Our recent clean up exercise was held on 26th October, 2019 which we conducted together with Agoo �??Tankas�?� and Bepong Senior High School at Bepong Kwahu. We have conducted numerous cleanup activities and still conducting.
Our relentless effort towards ensuring a clean Kwahu and Ghana has given us recognition both nationally and internationally, by our hard work, truthfulness and God's grace, we get support from few individuals once a while and the media has also been very supportive to the work we are doing because they have seen how accountable, productive and the impact of our work on Kwahu and its environs. Recently on 7th September, 2019 we organized another sanitation advocacy community engagement program at the forecourt of Abetifi Chiefs palace in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern region that brought together all the Senior High School Students and teachers within the Kwahu East district, the entire Kwahu East community and key stakeholders such as the District Chief Executive, the Kwahu East District Director for sanitation, Nananom, District Education Director, a representative of Mpraeso General Hospital, the media among others. This clearly depicts our relentless contribution at the local level towards attaining SDG6 of the global goals and agenda 2063 of the African Union which are the mother of all Voluntary organizations in the entire world.
Our activities have attracted the attention of the media, both print and press, we wish to indicate our recent activity was published in the national newspaper �??Ghanaian Herald graphics" on 22nd September, 2019.
Why Sanitation? Sanitation plays a pivotal role in our society, the reports from research institutions, health institutions and the media among others is evidently clear how alarming and devastative the situation is here in Ghana with regards to poor sanitation practices. Sanitation has to do with attitude and attitudinal change is a conflict which we the devoted members of Kwahu Sanitation Volunteers Club are more than ready to fight and make Kwahu and Ghana a nation devoid of filth and diseases. This compelled us to form this club which is interested in a national and global issues rather than enriching it's members to rewrite the narrative of our sanitation history and ensure a clean Ghana with the collaborative help from all.
Source of Funding and Partners: Our source of funding comes from few individual voluntary contributions and we sometimes get help from some organizations such as Kantanka Mineral Water, Everyday Natural Mineral Water and Mavit Catering Services which donates water and food to our club during clean up exercises and advocacy programs. We also get partnership from few organizations such as Bryn Acheampong Foundation, �??Agoo Tankas�?�, Agoo FM, Unity FM and G3 Foundation. The district sanitation officers also provide us with working tools during clean-up activities.
Our Humble Appeal: We kindly appeal, soliciting support from your organization so that we can attain our mission and vision to the benefit of Ghana and the world. This is an open document where your response is very critical to us with regards to terms and conditions pertaining to our partnership and cooperation agreement, so you can extend to us any kind of support you want to give us, be it financial, technical advice or logistics among others. We believe in partnering for a good course like this and we want to assure you that we would use whatsoever fund, logistics or help you will provide us with for its intended purpose and account for expenditure appropriately through our reports and our work will speak for itself.
We are very confident and optimistic that with your support and cooperation, we can hit out chests together one day and say Kwahu and Ghana is a clean country based on our relentless efforts and contributions.
